Abby Bloom represented Stone Bridge High School at the Girls' State Open Golf Championship, at International Country Club in Chantilly, VA., on October 24 and 25, 2016.   During two grueling days of competition Abby shot 84/84 over the 36 holes of play for a total score of 168.  The weather was windy and chilly and the greens at International were very firm and as a result were putting extremely fast raising the scores across the field of 60 competitors.   Her 168 earned her an 11th best score finish in the Championship tournament.  The tournament was won by Danielle Suh of Westfield High School with a score of 157.  Second place went to Ericka Whitehouse of Atlee High School. 

Abby demonstrated excellent ball striking during both days of play.   On the first day of play she hit 10 of 14 fairways in regulation as well as 10 of 18 greens in regulation.  On the second day of play she hit nine of 14 fairways in regulation and 14 of 18 greens in regulation.  Overall she hit both 68% of her greens and fairways in regulation over the 36 holes of play.  Abby's ball striking off the tee and from the fairway was very impressive.
