Kent Kling
Varsity Head Coach
Boys Varsity Basketball
Kent Kling is a founding member of The Loudoun Basketball Academy(LBA), one of the largest and most-respected grassroots/AAU basketball organizations in the area. Coach Kling is a seasoned coach with over 25 years of experience, recently completing a successful coaching season on the Adidas Uprising Circuit. He has coached everything from the younger rec levels (locally starting with DYB) all the way up through the highest levels of grassroots/AAU, including extensive experience at the high school level. Coach Kling has led teams to regional and state championships in multiple age groups. He is a regular at summer camps and is a certified coach with USA Basketball, the NCAA, PCA, and holds certifications with NFHS. He continues his coaching education seasonally.
Coach Kling grew up playing in the Catholic School Leagues in the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT) and was a member of two Connecticut State Catholic Championship Teams. Coach Kling played college basketball in the Connecticut Small College Conference (CSCC) where he was a two year captain. In his best year he averaged over 18 points a game and led his team with over 90% free throw shooting. He earned All-CSCC Honorable Mention honors that year. It is rumored he still gets a run now and then at local gyms and may actually pass the ball ( he probably thinks about it at least ).
Coach Kling strives for a positive playing environment that allows kids to experience the excitement of competition, the enhancement of physical fitness and the demonstration of competence all while playing basketball at a higher level. This coaching philosophy focuses on the development of the complete player in a team environment. Each player will be pushed to reach their maximum potential
but in an environment that makes the player want to come back to give it their all and improve.
