Eli Robertson posts a sixth place finish at the Region 5A State Golf Tournament.

Eli Robertson proudly represented his community, Stone Bridge High School and the Bulldog golf team at the Region 5A State Golf  Tournament, held at the Magnolia Green Golf Course in Moseley, Virginia on October 12 and 13, 2015.  Eli completed the two day tournament with a total score of 153, finishing tied for sixth place and placing 8th place overall.   Eli shot a 77 on day one and a 76 on day two.    His round of 76, which was played in the last group against other top scorers from the previous day,  was highlighted by a four birdie front nine, where he posted a score of 35, one under par.   He finished with one birdie on the difficult back nine and a score of 41.  Eli also scored five birdies on the first day of the tournament.   Some of Eli's impressive statistics for the tournament included:   hitting 21 of 28 fairways in regulation;  hitting 19 of 36 greens in regulation; and posting 32 and 30 putts on each of the two days of competition, respectively.    His driver, fairway woods and approach shots were accurate.  He impressed the gallery with his length off the tee.   Last but not least, Eli had a total of 10 birdies over the 36 holes of play, or a 27.8 birdie  percentage for holes played.  Two of those birdies were two putts and one was a chip in from above a green off a difficult lie from the rough.   Eli was impressive in his play.  Other words to describe his effort:   happy, resilient, focused, staying in the moment, accurate, competitive, and excellent course management and sportsmanship. 

To do a quick summary of the rest of the tournament, the tournament first place team was Deep Run High School, scoring a two day total score of 613 and the runner up team was Thomas Jefferson High School, posting a score of 627.   Complete individual and team scoring can be found on the Virginia High School League website.
