Varsity Golf: Abby Bloom at State Girl's Open Tournament

Stone Bridge High School's Abby Bloom completed her two day, Virginia Girl's State Open with a score of 165, shooting 82 on day one and 83 on day two. The Open was played at the Redwing Lake Golf Course in Virginia Beach, VA. over Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27, 2015, Sixty one girls qualified and competed at the Open. Abby's score of 165 was the 18th best score and placed her in 34th place after score cards were compared for ties.

Abby qualified for the Girls' State Open at the Shenandoah Golf Course in White Post, VA, on October 19, 2015, shooting an 82 and tying the lowest score of the day of the 25 girls who competed.

At the Girl's Open, Abby's 82 on day one, consisted of hitting 11 of 14 fairways and 10 of 18 greens, in regulation. She had 35 putts and sunk 41 feet of putts. On a drizzly day two of competition, Abby's 83, was the result of hitting 10 of 14 fairways and eight of 18 greens in regulation. Her putting was outstanding with five one putts, 32 total putts and 78 feet of putts for the round. She also made four up and downs to save par during round two. Abby had one birdie each day of the Open. The experience Abby gained this year as part of the Stone Bridge golf team, and playing as an individual at the Region 5A Tournament, the Zone Qualifier and the State Girls' Open will help Abby prepare to be a top golf competitor during her senior year at Stone Bridge High School. Abby was one of Stone Bridge's most consistent golfers in 2015.
