The Bulldog Swim Team came out strong in their first meet of their “double header weekend”.  Friday December 12th, the Bulldogs swam against Thomas Jefferson High School.
    The boy’s team started off the meet with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Auerbach, Marron, Kost and Davidson.  The team of Laws, Ulloa, Eng and Spencer came in 6th ,  the team of Fitzgerald, Eniquez, McArdle and King finished 7th and the team of Bergstrom, Birsic, Spahr and Nguygen came in 8th. 
    On the girls side the team of Jachimowski, Wilson, Coon and Oh took 1st to start the Lady Bulldogs off. The team of M. Keener, Hughes, Mangdroc and Trent took 5th and the team of Rick, I. Keener, Wooley and Chowdhury took 7th. 
    Up next was the 200 Yard Freestyle followed by the 200 Individual Medley. Micheal Kost took 1st, Austin Laws took 6th, Coles Wetmore took 7th and Kyle Enriquez took 8th in the 200 Yard Freestyle. In the 200 Individual Medley, Danny Marron took 2nd, Chris Davidson took 3rd, Jake Eng took 7th and Matthew Greason took 8th. 
    The girls almost had a sweep in the 200 Freestyle with Lindsey Jachimowski taking 1st and Alyssa Coon taking 2nd. Behind them was Callie Hughes in 5th and Maria Keener coming in 8th. In the 200 Individual Medley, Lindsey Jachimowski took 2nd, Abby Tenshaw took 6th, Sam Wooley took 7th and Hannah Simmons took 8th. 
    Then came the first and only individual 50 yard swim of the meet- the 50 free. Ryan Spencer took 5th, David King took 6th, Farris Shaikh took 7th and Josh Xu took 8th for the Bulldogs.  
    For the girls, Rebecca Oh took 1st, Heather Stone took 4th, Michaela Wilson took 6th and Isi Keener took 8th. 
At the break, the girls were fighting a close meet with the score 66.5 to 67.5 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs. The boy’s score was 112 to 45 in favor of the Colonials. 
    After the break it was time for the 100 yard Butterfly. Micheal Kost once again took 1st followed by Jacob Auerbach in 6th, Kai Ulloa in 7th and Nate Wooley in 8th. 
    The girls once again came out strong in this event with Alyssa Coon taking 1st, Rebecca Oh taking 2nd, Lisa McKenzie taking 5th and Jada McFadden taking 7th. 
    The boys 100 Freestyle had Danny Marron taking 3rd, Luke Bergstrom taking 6th, Ryan Spencer taking 7th and Marijo Beltoja taking 8th. The girls had Heather Stone taking 3rd, Jordan Trent taking 4th, Hannah Simmons taking 7th and Stephani Hutecker taking 8th. 
    At the end of the longest event of the night, the 500 Freestyle, the boys, Aiden Fitzgerald, Colin McArdle, Coles Wetmore and Zach Spahr took 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th respectively and the girls, Elizabeth Mangdroc and Madeline Masi took 1st and 6th while Rachel Miller and Casey Rick tied for 7th. 
    Then came the 200 Freestyle Relay. On the boys side, the relay team of Davidson, King, Spencer and Marron took 4th, the team of Eng, Xu, Laws and Nguygen took 6th, the team of Silvasy, Wooley, Vazin and Enriquez took 7th and the team of Walton, Shaikh, Greason and Beltoja took 8th. 
    On the girls side, the relay team of Coon, Stone, Hughes and Oh took 2nd, the team of Simmons, M. Keener, I. Keener and Masi took 4th and the team of Tenshaw, Hutecker, Scott and Chowdhury took 6th. 
    In the 100 Backstroke, Jacob Auerbach took 4th, Austin Laws took 6th, George Birsic took 7th and Collin Walton took 8th. For the girls, Jordan Trent took 5th, Abby Tenshaw took 6th and Maria Keener took 7th. 
    In the boys 100 Breaststroke, Grant Vazin took 5th, Matthew Greason took 6th, Teddy Nguyen took 7th and Zach Silvasy took 8th. On the girls side, Micheala Wilson took 3rd, Lisa McKenzie took 4th, Callie Hughes took 7th and Stephani Hutecker took 8th., 
    Then came the final event of the night, the 400 Free Relay. For the boys, the team of Kost, McArdle, Auerbach and Eng took 5th, Bergstrom, Birsic, Silvasy and Wetmore took 6th, Fitzgerald, Walton, Vazin and Ulloa took 7th and Spahr, Enriquez, Beltoja and Wooley took 8th. 
    And then for the girls, the relay team of Mandgroc, Wilson, McKenzie and Stone took 2nd, the team of Masi, Boyles, Simmons and Trent took 6th and the team of Chowdhury, Quiceno and Hutecter took 7th. 
    The final score on the boys side was 230-79 in favor of Thomas Jefferson. The girls score was 189.5 to 114.5. 
    Next up for the Bulldogs is Saturday night, December 13th, against Madison High School.

Congratulations to our swimmer of the meet Madeline Masi, whose new 2nd favorite event is the 500 freestyle ..(when earlier in the week  she didn't think she would be able to finish a whole 500 and still do every flip turn).. way to step up to the challenge and get out of your comfort zone Madeline!
