LIBERTY DISTRICT FINALS @ MCLEAN: 2
The Stone Bridge boys soccer team fought valiantly on Friday night versus Langley HS in the Liberty District finals falling in penalty kicks 5-4. The game was tied in regulation 2-2 with Tyler Bavis and Luke Schierling scoring goals for the Bulldogs with Peter Whelpley and Schierling getting assists. Both teams failed to push through in the four overtimes taking the game to penalty kicks. Abe Yoslov had another stellar night in goal with several keys saves along with his defending crew of Brad Wood, Luke Schierling, Tommy Dunne and Ben Jamison cutting out many of Langley's services in to the 18 yard box from corners and throw-ins.
With the result Stone Bridge's record now stands at 9-1-5 on the season (tonight's game goes in as a tie) and will next play at home on Wednesday night as the #2 seed in the Northern Region tournament against WT Woodson from the Concorde District. Game time on Wednesday is set for 7 PM.
