All Prospective 2017 Stone Bridge High School Golfers:

Tryouts will be held beginning on July 31 at 1757 Golf Course at beginning at 10:15 am.  We will play 9 holes of golf beginning at 11 am.

The second day of tryouts will be August 1, 2017,  at Belmont CC, beginning at 12:30 pm with a 9 hole round beginning at 1 pm.

The third day of tryouts will be August 2, 2017, at Belmont CC, again, beginning at 12:30 pm with a 9 hole round beginning at 1 pm.    Team selection will be immediately after this day of tryouts.

1. Additional important information regarding tryouts:

In order to tryout, the following forms must be completed and turned in by July 27, 2017.  Preferably, you should have these forms completed and turned into the office at Stone Bridge High School as early as possible.   

• Completed VHSL Physical

• Emergency Care Card

• Loudoun County Training Rules and Regulations

• Warning & Assumption of Risk for Participation

• Concussion Guidelines

Please fully complete these forms with all required signatures and turn them in to the SBHS Office (to the attention of Athletic Department) by July 27, 2017.  All of these forms are available and may be completed online  (except for the physical form) at www.stonebridgehs.rschoolteams.com  under the “Athletic Forms” tab at the top of the Home page.

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) requires every athlete to have a minimum of 3 days of tryouts.  Therefore, a coach has the option of making all of the final cuts after the August 2, round.  If you don’t have all 5 forms completely filled out and turned in to SBHS prior to the first tryout day, you will NOT be able to participate until they are submitted (each missed tryout day because of late paperwork counts towards your three required tryout days).

Selection Criteria:

The following are a few of the skills/abilities that will be assessed during tryouts and team selection process:   Overall Golf Swing (mechanics, balance, consistency), Driving Power/Accuracy, Long and Short Iron Play, Pitching/Chipping, Putting, Sand Shots, Hitting from Difficult Lies, Mental Focus/Concentration, Decision-Making/Course Management, Knowledge of Golf Rules and Etiquette and Individual Scores on tryout days.

There will be an organizational team meeting for prospective team members and parents at the 1757 Golf Course on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 7 pm in the table area directly behind the snack bar/locker room area, adjoining the driving range.   I will discuss tryouts, selection criteria, athletic rules and team commitment.  Please come and learn about varsity co-ed golf at Stone Bridge High School.

Prior to Tryouts, we will have four green days in July.  They will be held at the following dates, locations and times and only  those having completed all their paperwork for tryouts will be allowed to participate.    Please let me know if you can participate as soon as possible.  We have eight playing spots for each of the green days.

July 11, 2017,    Westpark Golf Course at 11 am  $18.50

July 13, 2017,    Algonquin GC at 10 am  $22.50

July 18, 2017,   1757 GC at 11 am  $30

July 20, 2017,   Westpark GC at 11 am  $18.50

Please be at the course at least 30 minutes to warm up prior to participating.
