Bulldogs Compete at Loudoun County High School Tournament

The Stone Bridge High School Bulldog Golf Team finished tied for 10th place in the Loudoun County High School Tournament held today at the par 72 Algonkian Golf Course in Sterling, VA.  Stone Bridge shot 331 as did Briar Woods High School.   Scoring for the Bulldog golfers were Paul Thoppil shooting 77, Kieran Modhera shooting 82, Michael Miranda shooting 84, and Sean Vanderstelt shooting 88.   Also playing for Stone Bridge was Ethan McCrary who shot 89.  

Low medalist for the tournament was Heritage HS's Aiden Baron who shot 67.   Other top five finishers were Sam Carollo of Riverside HS who also shot 67, Michael Farringer of Heritage HS who shot 69, C. LaFolette of Loudoun Valley HS who shot 71 and Matthew Monestero of Loudoun County HS who shot 72. 

Riverside HS won the tournament shooting 293 followed by Heritage shooting 296 and Loudoun Valley HS shooting 298.    Other schools shot as follows:

The Bulldogs played hard.  Paul Thoppil struck the ball sharply today hitting 13 of 14 greens in regulation, 10 greens in regulation, and attaining 14 pars while only having two bogies and two double bogies in his round.    Sean Vanderstelt and Kieran Modhera each had a birdie bringing our birdie total for the season to 12.  All of our players did  much better getting the ball up and down when missing greens.  We are improving steadily.

Bulldogs win first match of 2019 178 to 213 over the Woodgrove Wolverines

The Stone Bridge Bulldog Golf Team won its first match of the season on the evening of August 12, 2019 vs the Woodgrove Wolverine Golf Team.  The match was hosted by Woodgrove on the front nine (par 36) of their home course, Stoneleigh, In Round Hill, VA.   The Bulldogs scored a 178 team total as Paul Thoppil was low medalist shooting 41, Michael Miranda shot 44, Ethan McCrary shot 45 and Gautham Bai Reddy shot 48 in his first high school golf match.  Also playing for Stone Bridge were Kieran Modhera shooting 48 and Sean Vanderstelt shooting 51.   The Wolverines shot a score of 213 with Nick Eastman shooting 42, Hunter Green shooting 43, Dillon Michlere shooting 64 and David Robinson shooting 64.  Also playing for Woodgrove were Wolfgang Roettiger shooting 65 and Landon Jones shooting 69.

The Bulldogs played well on the very challenging Stoneleigh Golf Course.  Pin placements were in difficult-to-reach positions, the undulating greens were challenging to read and we played from the blue tees.

Stone Bridge Golfers place 8th at Freedome HS Invitational August 9, 2019

On Friday, August 9, 2019, the Stone Bridge High School Golf Team participated in the Freedom High School sponsored tournament at the par 71 South Riding Golf Course in South Riding, VA.  Six golfers participated from 13 high schools from Loudoun County and James Town, VA.   Stone Bridge placed 8th place shooting a score of 331.  Scoring for Stone Bridge were Sean Vanderstelt shooting his second 78 in tournament play, Kieran Modhera shooting 83, Paul Thoppil shooting 85 and Ethan McCrary shooting 85.   Also playing for Stone Bridge were Michael Miranda shooting 91 and Matthew Clark shooting 92.   Freshman Gautham Bai Reddy did not play but supported his team by walking along with his teammates and providing reports and calls for assistance from the team to his coach.  Stone Bridge is averaging 20 strokes lower in tournament play thus far this season compared to last year!

Riverside High School won the Freedom Tourney with a score of 298.  Congratulations to Riverside.   Also, low medalists for the tournament were Mr Monastoero from Loudoun County HS who shot a one under par 70 and took first place and Sam Carollo of Riverside HS who also shot 70 and took second place.

The Freedom HS Tournament and the Algonkian Tournament next week will determine the regular Conference Champion for the season by our combined scores in those two tournaments.   We are competing with RIverside and Potomac Falls high schools for this title.   Potomac Falls shot 319 in the Freedom Tourney.

Stone Bridge Bulldog Golfers Kick Off Season!

On Wednesday, August 8, 2109, the Stone Bridge High School Golf Team kicked off their 2019 season with a respectful performance at the annual Curly Licklider Memorial Golf Tournament held at the par 71 Shenandoah  Golf Course in White Post, VA.   All six players scores counted in this event compared to the other tournaments and matches we play during the season where the four out of six best scores count for a team score.  The Bulldogs six players shot a combined score of 514.   Individually, Sean Vanderstelt shot 78, Paul Thoppil shot 79, Michael Miranda shot 85, Matthew Clark shot 86,, Kieran Modhera shot 87 and Ethan McCrary shot 99.  Keep up the great work Bulldogs!   The Bulldog golfers will compete in the Freedom High School Invitational Tourney on Friday, August 9, 2019.
